Rose is a red haired girl with blue eyes. She says she is not scared of anything except for the giant, fearful, black, dog at the end of the block. The giant, fearful, black dog’s name is Hickory. But Rose calls Hickory “Hedgehog,” because whenever he barks at people his hair goes up like a hedgehog.
Rose lives on Hub Street, but she wishes that she could live on Heavenly Street. People who go on Heavenly Street say that it is the most peaceful street that they have ever been on. Her parents say that they already have their dream home, but Rose doesn’t think that.
Everyday Rose walks to school she passes Hickory’s owner. She says to her friends “I hate that horrible dog named Hickory.”
But her friends say, “I think you said that you were not scared of anything.” Deep down inside, Rose is really scared of Hickory, but she doesn’t want to admit that in front of her friends.
So one day her friends threw her homework over the fence that Hickory lived on. She walked up to the door. She rang the bell. They answered. Rose said, “My homework is by Hickory.”
Hickory’s owner says nothing. Then she said, “Let’s go get it.” She also said, “Would you like to meet Hickory?”
“No,” said Rose.
You don’t have to be scared of him.”
OK,” so Rose stuck her hand out and her hand felt wet. She was shocked! She didn’t know what to do. She said she was sorry, and Hickory and Hickory’s owner became best friends with Rose and her family!!!!!
