One day in spring a herd of unicorns were eating sweet, green grass when a big silence filled the meadow. Then, a blood red sky scared all the unicorns. A very big red bull came out of nowhere. The bull chased the unicorns out of the forest and drove them to the sea. But one unicorn didn’t get taken away.
Her name was Kai. This is where our story begins. Kai was born by a river in Montana. Her father didn’t like her that much. He tried to get her out of the herd. Her mother died after she was three months old. Her father didn’t take care of her very much.
Kai ran away that night. She traveled all over Montana until, one night in the forest, she got lost. She cried out, “Hello? Hello? Help? Is anybody out there?” Kai was all alone. Daytime came and she met a little butterfly. She asked the butterfly, “Mr. Butterfly, have you seen any others like me?"
"I haven’t seen any like you,” he answered.
“NO! No!” screamed Kai. Kai ran away to find other unicorns.
One quiet day a man captured Kai but she escaped! She ran off into the woods. It is now midnight and our story is done.
Psych! This is only the middle of the story.
An old woman came and took her! Kai was in a cage. Other animals were there too. A wizard named Smendrick freed her. “I am Smendrick the great magician,” he said.
“Thank you!” said Kai. She freed the other animals. But one of them was a big vicious vulture. She let him go. The vulture flew up and swooped down to pick up the unicorn. But the old woman came in front of Kai. The vulture ate up the old woman.
Smendrick and Kai ran from the vulture. Then they ran into the forest of darkness. They saw some people around a fire. Smendrick and Kai walked up to the fire.
“Welcome up coming visitors! My name is Captain Troy, and this is my assistant, Molly. We gladly hope you could stay with us,” said the man.
“We would love to, but we have to go to King Hagord,” said Kai. Smendrick and Kai went back into the forest of darkness.
A few minutes later, Molly ran after them. “Can I travel with you? Can I, please?”
“It’s O.K.” Kai said.
They traveled through the forest when the humongous red bull came back to drive Kai to the sea! While she was running away from the bull, Smendrick turned her into a human! She fell to the ground. Molly started to yell at Smendrick. “You turned her into a human! How could you?” Molly started to cry.
Kai stood up. “What have you done to me?” she demanded.
Smendrick explained, “You’re still a unicorn, I only made you look like a girl to help you escape from the bull.”
They started a new adventure when they got to King Hagord’s castle.
