Horses
by Jazmine, third grade
Horses come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Horses are beautiful and wonderful animals! Some horses race in competitions. My friend has a horse and raced in a competition. She won second place in the race and won a medium-sized trophy.
My grandparents live by a lot of different farms and next door there are two black horses. As my family and I drive places, I sometimes see horses of all different shapes and sizes. No one horse is like another.
Horses are mammals like you and I. A mammal is an animal that is warm blooded and feeds its young milk. Horses are not the only mammals. Cats, whales, elephants, and mice are mammals, too.
Horses eat grass, hay and grains (on farms) and other plants.
Did you know horses sleep standing up? This is so they can get away from their enemies faster.
