THE GIRL OF BLUE
by I.M.
One winter school day I got on the bus. A new girl sat next to me. I said, “Someone is sitting here.” She started to cry as she ran to the back of the bus. Everybody started to laugh at her. Her crying got even worse when the bus driver came to the back. He asked, “Who made her cry?” Everybody pointed to me.
“I did not make her cry. All I said is that someone is sitting here.” Then we went to school and the bell rang. We all went to class and the new girl was sitting next to me. She smiled and started to read. A boy called Armando said that she was wearing all blue. Other kids said it too. She was about to cry when I told her that they are all weird. I asked her why she was wearing all blue. And that is when she said it is her favorite color.
I commented, “You don’t have to wear everything blue.” And she started to cry again.
