Max and the Magic Rock
By Miguel

Teacher: Mrs. Jean Landry

It was about 2:30 on Mars. Max was getting his equipment on to go outside and pick rocks for his rock collection. Rock collection was Max’s favorite hobby. He collected small rocks and big ones too. Max’s mom was watching the Alien Channel. Max left without telling his mom.

Max went to the park and saw his friend Billy. Billy was the smartest kid in his class. “Hello” said Max.

“Hi,” said Billy.

“What are you doing?” replied Max.

“Oh I’m practicing my math.”

“Well see you later,” said Max.

In about 5 minutes Max had found a gorgeous, shiny, smooth rock. It had green and blue stripes. As Max walked home he felt like the luckiest kid in the world.

Max opened the door. His father and mother had made dinner. “Yum!” said Max, “pizza!” Crunch Crunch. After dinner Max went to sleep and so did his mom and dad. Now it was 12:00 p.m. when Max heard a sound. He woke up and went outside.

Max felt really nervous. Max had the gorgeous rock in his hand. Suddenly, something came out from the rocks. It was an ugly saber tooth Alien! It had green eyes and purple fur. Max ran as fast as he could. The saber tooth alien gained on Max. Max said to himself, “I wish that I was a bee.”

Everything started to spin, then everything was still. Max felt a little weird. Soon he noticed that he was a bee! Max flew as fast as his little wings could from the saber tooth alien, but the saber tooth alien was running around place to place. Max saw the rock lying on the ground. He tried to get closer, but the rock was too shiny to get to. Max flew home.

Max thought it was cool being a bee because he could fit through the smallest crack in a house. When Max finally got home, his parents were still asleep. Max made his way through the house. Max talked to his mom but his voice was too little for her to hear. He could hardly hear himself.

When Max went back to the park, the rock was still there. Max found a place to sleep. In the morning, Max was really hungry, so he flew into a flower. Slurp, slurp, went Max.

vMax’s mom and dad woke up and went to his room. When they went in, they didn’t see Max. His parents looked low and high, they looked high and low, but they could not find him.

Max was trying to think about a way to get his mom to hear him. Now it was about 2:30, a good time to have a walk. Max finally got an idea. He could get some ink and write with his stinger by walking on his mother’s schedule. Max quickly went to get ink from the ink factory. Soon Max was finished writing.

That afternoon Max’s mom went for a walk! She saw the rock and thought how Max would like it, so she picked it up and she thought, “Oh how I wish Max was here.” Then suddenly the rock started to glow, and Max appeared right in front of her.

That night Max told his mom, “I will be careful what I wish for when I hold that rock.”
