ELIZABETH

By Shea R.

One cold November day, a little girl named Elizabeth was making something in her room.

Her mother and father were at a party and her brother had a friend over.

Elizabeth had no friends and didn’t talk much. She was shy and quite short for her age. She got called the names of “Shorty” and “You” or sometimes “Hey you.” Elizabeth was lonely and grew tired of making things. She didn’t know any one on the block. She wouldn’t dare invite James Wilson over, he’s the one who started calling her Shorty! She hated that guy!

Days passed and Elizabeth was still thinking of things to do.

One day she found it…..She found the perfect idea.

Elizabeth worked and worked in her room for days.

Often, Elizabeth’s mother would bring her meals to her room. Every time her mother or father went to the store she needed something!

Months went by and soon her brother heard a shout, “Yes!” He went to Elizabeth's room. From where he was standing he saw a giant invention. Elizabeth said, “Do you love it?”

“What is it?” asked her brother Freddie.

“Why, it’s the Darzanaiter Comintraiter.”

“Uh yeah sure….” said Freddie. “MOM…….”

“Shut UP!!” shouted Elizabeth. “It’s a secret and why did I trust you any ways?” As you can see, Elizabeth did not like Freddie very much. No she did not.

Elizabeth decided to make more Darzanaiter Comintraiters so she could sell them. She didn’t let Freddie have any of the money or the Darzanaiters.

Years passed and people still couldn’t figure out what Elizabeth's invention was. People asked the same question over and over again but they all got the same answer, “an invention” Elizabeth mumbled.

Elizabeth died at age 98 in 1999. That very day a boy named James Wilson figured out exactly what her invention was.

He got rich and famous for figuring out Elizabeth’s mystery and telling everyone who had the Darzanaiter what it was.

In 2002, James made a grave for Elizabeth to thank her. If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t be rich and famous.

Every May 8, all the people in Washington celebrate the soul of Elizabeth, for she was a good person and did a good thing.

On May 8, every family in Washington gets together to celebrate Elizabeth. They leave one piece of bread and one glass of wine for her.
