"Home of the Prairie Dogs"

Westcliffe

by Elena G.

My trip was so awesome and so cool. First, Kaliegh, Gracie, Aunt Perky, Mom, and I went to Westcliffe to see Alex (my brother) play baseball. My mom drove all the way to Westcliffe. It took two hours and thirty minutes to get there. We left at 7:00 in the night and got there at 9:30. We watched Monsters Inc. because we have a DVD player in the van. It's so cool. After, we watched the movie we just sat around and ate and drank pop. We have a fridge in the van too. When we got there it was like someone turned off the lights.

Once we got there I ran into the house and turned on all the lights and our house looked so cool! We had three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and one huge kitchen.

The next day I went in our backyard and I found out that our backyard could fit 20 school buses!

Next, we went to the opening ceremony for the baseball teams who played there. It was sort of boring. Then, we saw Southeast Denver Allstars vs. North Fork Allstars. Southeast Denver won by a score of 9-4. That night, the parents and the kids had a party. The kids played Red Light Green Light, Duck Duck Goose, Lion Lion Come Out of Your Cage, and Fish Tail. We ate hamburgers, hot hogs, and junk food.

The next day we went to Alex's baseball game and we won again. The score was 8-3. This time we played Yuma. After that, my mom, Gracie, Aunt Perky and I were going to go rock climbing, but there was lighting and thunder. So instead, we went to the bowling alley. When we went there, we bowled and then we played games. We also played with the boys who are on my brother's baseball team. It rained so much that we almost got flooded in!!

That night my mom, Gracie and I all went to see the baseball games that were rained out that day after Alex's baseball game. It was very cold there, so we bundled up until we could hardly move. When we were there we saw some of the boys from Alex's team. Some boys from Lamar were there, too. They had just lost a baseball game and they were out of the whole thing. We told the boys that we wanted Southeast Denver to win and they got so mad. Do you know why? Because Southeast Denver always beats them.

The next day, we went to see my brother's team play Wet Mountain. We won again. The score was 9-7, a close game. After the game, my mom, Aunt Perky, Gracie, Brett's mom, and I all went rock climbing. We stayed there for about 1 hour. When we came back we all went shopping. Gracie and I got two rock candies. We both got huckleberry and raspberry. They were so good they made me want to yell "Yahoo!" We went to a lot of stores, so I won't name them.

The next day, we went to the last game of the season. We went to the fields and it was raining. So we had all the people from Southeast Denver over to our house. My mom drove Aunt Perky, Gracie, Alex, Max, Jamie Miller, and me back to our house. When we got there we all had to take off our shoes. Our garage was full of shoes.

While we were at our house we all watched a movie. The movie was Mrs.Doubtfire. That is a funny movie. During the movie I went into my mom's room and I saw Sam talking to my mom and Alex. I asked Sam, "What happened to your knee?"

He replied,"Well it is a long story." So he told us. I will not tell you the whole story but here is the short version of it. Sam threw a rock at Max and Max started to chase Sam and throw rocks at him. Sam fell on a huge rock and cut his knee on a piece of sharp rock. It was kind of funny.

Finally, the game was back on. All the players rushed to the cars. So did the coaches. The coaches drove as many players as they could in each car.

Finally, we saw Southeast Denver play. We played North Fork again. We won again. The score was 9-2. Each player got a medal, and they are going to state. My mom took a picture of Alex's host family with Alex.

We left at 3:00 in the afternoon. Finally, we drove back home. On our way back we stopped at a 7 Eleven to get gas, food, drinks, and go to the bathroom. We got back on the road again. My mom drove us all the way home. Also, Alex, Gracie, and I all watched an old black and white movie. I forgot what it was called. I fell asleep during the movie.

When we got home it was 5:30. Gracie called her mom to see if she could stay longer. Her mom said, "Yes." So we played in my pool and jumped on the tramp. Later she went home. Now Alex goes on to the state tournament, which is in Lamar. Now that is a different story. That was the best time I have ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
