Xavier And His Arm

By Xavier G

A terrible thing happened to me on the playground one day when I was only in second grade. It was recess, the sun was shining brightly, and there was not a cloud in the sky. I decided to go to the playground. The playground shone like diamonds. It was so bright, my eyes immediately shut. There in the sunlight was something I never noticed before. Silver rings dangling from chains. I ran over to them and put my hand on one and swung.

Suddenly, in an instant my hand slipped from the silver ring. "Ow!" I cried. I had landed on my right arm. A few other kids helped me up. My arm felt as if it was being torn off. I touched it and an explosion of pain filled my arm. It hurt so badly. I couldn't tell where my arm hurt. I was sent to the nurse's office and the nurse said my arm was broken. For two long hours I lay on a bed in a dark room and I couldn't go to sleep.

Then, after two long hours in the darkness, my mom came through the door. Quickly we drove to the hospital. Luckily I only needed a cast for three weeks. After what seemed like a year, I finally got my cast off. I still needed to wear a sling, because my arm was still weak. Now that it has been almost three years, I hope I never break my arm again. Now you know how I broke my arm.
