Meet the Principal
Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members:
I am so excited to be the newly appointed principal of McGlone Elementary. I would like to share a little bit about myself with you. I grew up in Denver, Colorado and attended McGlone Elementary as a child. After graduating from the Denver Public School district, I attended Colorado University at Denver where I received my Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in English. Upon graduating from college, I became a substitute teacher for DPS. As a substitute teacher, I immediately knew my calling was to be an educator working with young students. Following my dream, I became a fourth grade teacher at Oakland Elementary. Over the past eleven years, I have served as an Elementary Teacher, Humanities Facilitator, and an Assistant Principal.
I presently hold a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Reading, Writing and Language. I earned my Leadership Certification from the University of Denver.
My vision for McGlone Elementary is to guide students in the development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich educational programs. As a staff we will accomplish this mission by:
- Creating a safe nurturing environment that encourages students to accept and find the best in themselves and others
- Challenging students to reach their full academic potential
- Helping students find the inner confidence they need to take risks and set goals in their lives
- Instilling in students a sense of responsibility and respect for themselves, others, their school, and their community
- Preparing the students of McGlone Elementary to be the teachers, leaders, and dreamers of tomorrow
In order to make this mission a reality, McGlone Elementary needs YOU!! Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Collaborative School Committee (CSC) will be meeting soon. I would love to have you as a volunteer for either or both of the committees. Your voice will make McGlone Elementary a stronger school. As adults, we will set the tone for our children and enhance the learning of all students at McGlone Elementary.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or send me an email. Also, please keep checking our website as we will be updating the site over the summer and throughout the school year.
Again, I look forward to working with you and your children.
Proud Principal of McGlone Elementary,
Candice Reese
