Creating stories within your site

Each page of your site is called a "STORY". You will create stories and link these stories together to form your web site.

To create a new story, click on Stories in the editors only menu.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page,

and click on Create a New Story.

Type in the title of the story in the Title dialog box. This title will appear at the top of the web page when you view it in a browser and be used in linking the page within your site by placing the title in quotation marks. You can now enter the contents of your page in the text box.

You do not need to know .html code to build your pages.

The text that you enter can be typed in directly, or you can cut and paste it from another word processor.

If you are using the latest version of Internet Explorer for the PC (IE 5.0 or IE 5.5) you can do the following:

You can edit your text by using the menu bar across the top of the text box.

If you highlight the text you want to edit you can do the following:

1. B- Used to bold the highlighted text

2. I- Used to italicize the highlighted text

3. U - Used to underline the highlighted text

4. Color - Used to change the color of thehighlighted text

5. Font - Used to change the font of the highlighted text

6. Alignment - Used to align the highlighted text ( left, center, right )

7. Format - Used for making lists and tables

8. Add Link - Used to add http:// links in your pages

After you have entered your text, click the Post New Story button below the text dialog box to create your story.

You will be able to preview your new story when your screen refreshes. If you are not happy with something within your page, scroll to the bottom of that page and click on the Edit this Page button. This will take you back to the Text box where you can now make additional changes to that page.

Suggestion: Please be sure to check your spelling. Manila does not have a spell check feature.

To link this page within your site and with other pages, type the page title in quotation marks.

You can also include pictures in your stories by typing the title you gave the picture you uploaded in quotation marks.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As managing editor~you are responsible for all content within your site. Please make sure you know what your contributing editors are uploading to their assigned pages.
